Happy Wine Wednesday! Today, I want to talk about which wine clubs we are currently in and which ones we have been a part of in the past. We join a new club almost every time we take a trip to wine country, so we have been in several different clubs over the years.
Sometimes, it makes sense to join a club because the winery will offer to comp your tasting fees. I would rather pay to get the wine itself versus a tasting fee.
Anyways, I thought it would be helpful to give you an overview of our wine club strategy!

- V. Sattui
- Date Joined: May 2013
- Average Price per Shipment: $110
- What do we get?
- 2 bottles of red, each month
- Notes:
- This is my favorite wine club to be in because we get so much variety. Sometimes, we will get a Cabernet, sometimes a Pinot Noir, sometimes a blend. It is really nice to get a mix of different reds. I also love that we are getting high quality wines in this shipment.
- Dry Creek Vineyard
- Date Joined: April 2016
- Average Price per Shipment: $130
- What do we get?
- 4 bottles of Zinfandel, 2 times per year
- Notes:
- Dry Creek Vineyard is one of the friendliest wineries I have ever been to! Their zinfandels are some of the best, and they know their stuff when it comes to that varietal. I think it is fun to have a bunch of zinfandels on hand – it pairs really well with BBQ!
- Christopher Creek
- Date Joined: July 2017
- Average Price per Shipment: $170
- What do we get?
- 3 bottles at each release (probably 2-3 times per year)
- Notes:
- Christopher Creek is a smaller winery tucked away near Healdsburg. I love the intimate feel of this place, and they produce some amazing wines. Our very first visit there, we had this amazing 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon while we overlooked the vineyard. It was one of those “pinch me” moments. I was hooked ever since that day.
- Sonoma Coast Vineyards
- Date Joined: July 2017
- Average Price per Shipment: $130
- What do we get?
- 3 bottles of Pinot Noir, 4 times per year
- Notes:
- We discovered Sonoma Coast Vineyards when we went out to Bodega Bay last July. We were surprised by the quality in these wines, especially their Pinot Noir. We did the standard wine tasting and then decided to stay for an extra glass of Pinot Noir because we loved it so much. Of course, they eventually sold us on the wine club!

- Alpha Omega
- We weren’t in this club very long. We really only joined because our tasting fees were going to total well over $100. We figured we may as well get a shipment or two of the wine versus paying $100 for tastings.
- We were the 2-bottle club (6 shipments per year).
- Rombauer
- We were actually in this club for a year or so, and we really liked it! The reason we cancelled is because we can find this wine at our local grocery store for the same price.
- We were in the Chardonnay club so we received 4 bottles of Chardonnay, 3 times per year.
- Duckhorn
- This was another one of those scenarios where we signed up because we didn’t want to pay our tasting fees. I think we received a couple of shipments and then cancelled.
- We got 3-4 bottles of red wine, and they do 4 shipments per year.
I think that’s all of the clubs that we are/have been in. This is a big hobby of ours, so that is why we were are in so many clubs. It is so fun to receive new wine every month and save it for the future. We have really grown our collection in the last few years, so it may be time to put a cellar room in our home soon!
Are y’all in any wine clubs? If so, what are your favorites? I would love to hear from you!
