While we were planning our trip to Spain, we knew we wanted to take a couple of days to just relax. We tend to get burned out on longer trips, so we wanted to make sure that we set aside time to rest and recharge. We decided that Malaga, off the coast of Southern Spain, would be the perfect city for just that.
Since we knew we would spend more time at the hotel in Malaga, we opted for a fancier option. We ended up staying at Gran Hotel Miramar, which is a very historical building in Malaga. This hotel was absolutely gorgeous, and it was definitely the perfect place to relax.
When we checked in, we were greeted with champagne, so things were definitely off to a good start! We booked a Deluxe Sea room because we wanted a view of the ocean with a balcony. The room did not disappoint. I was so impressed with every little detail! I told Alex that this may have been the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in. They had some local wine and fruit waiting for us in the hotel room.
We spent most of our two days in Malaga relaxing by the pool. The pool area had tons of chairs available and plenty of umbrellas if you wanted to be out of the sunshine. They also have a poolside bar, so you can order as many cocktails as your heart desires! We enjoyed several mojitos and margaritas while soaking in the sun.
We didn’t have dinner at the hotel, but their restaurants looked very elegant. They also offer a nice buffet breakfast each morning. [Funny Story: When we first arrived, our room wasn’t quite ready, but we knew we needed a coffee or something ASAP. They asked if we wanted orange juice in addition to our coffee, so we said sure! When the bill finally came, we realized that a glass of OJ was 8 Euros…..yikes!]
We decided to wake up early one morning and catch the sunrise from our balcony. It was so peaceful outside, and I loved hearing the sounds from the sea. We also decided to take a couple of pictures in our robes because why not? There’s something about a robe that makes you feel so fancy!
The second evening of our stay, we decided to check out the rooftop bar and lounge. The rooftop area has plenty of outdoor seating and the view is absolutely breathtaking. They also offer indoor seating and a decent menu to order from. Again, we never really ate at the hotel, but the menu did look pretty good.
Overall, the hotel was gorgeous and had a lot of character. All of the details in the lobby were especially fascinating. I think my absolute favorite feature of the hotel was the amazing white staircase in the back. It sure does make for a great photo opportunity!
I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel if you are ever in Malaga. I should also note that it is within walking distance to most of the attractions in town. We never used a cab/taxi while in Malaga, so no need to rent a car or save money for transportation!
Have you ever been to Malaga? If so, did you stop by this beautiful hotel? It is definitely a sight to see!
