We recently spent the Thanksgiving Holiday in Cabo San Lucas, so I figured I would throw together a brief overview and include a few photos from our trip. We didn’t do any activities, but it was nice to just relax and sit by the pool all day. Sometimes it’s nice not to have an agenda or any plans!
In this post, I covered where we stayed and what we liked about each resort. I also included an overview of where we ate dinner each night. At the end of the post, you’ll find a compilation of some of my favorite pictures from the trip. I hope this post gives you some good information if you are trying to plan a trip of your own to Cabo!

Where We Stayed
We stayed at two different resorts because we had to change travel plans after we initially booked the first resort. We thought it would be nice to check out a couple different properties in Cabo. I was really glad we did because they were both extremely different in so many ways.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica
We stayed here for the majority of our time in Cabo (4 nights). It’s an adults-only resort and an all-inclusive property, so all of our meals and drinks were included. There are a couple restaurants with a surcharge, but we never dined at those places. Overall, I’d rate the stay at just okay. It wasn’t my favorite all-inclusive experience in Mexico, and I wouldn’t recommend this resort. There seems to be a lot of people who rave about it on TripAdvisor, but it wasn’t for us.
Things to Know:
- The pool closest to the beach was much quieter than the pool with the swim up bar.
- You can rent a cabana on the beach for $40/day.
- Even though it was all-inclusive, you will have to sign the check and close your bill (tipping must not be included).
- Room service is included.
Pros:
- They have nice lounge chairs and tons of space by the pools.
- There are amazing views of the ocean and a nice beach.
- You’ll save money since it’s all-inclusive.
- The bed was really comfortable.
- It’s quiet.
Cons:
- The service and drinks were very inconsistent.
- The food wasn’t my favorite.
- It’s far from downtown, so you’ll need to take a shuttle or taxi if you want to go into town.
- Things were very unclear, and it was hard to get information at times.
Hacienda Beach Club & Residences
We only stayed at the Hacienda one night, but I wish I could have stayed longer. Everything about this place was incredible and the service was amazing. My parents have been staying here for the past 15 years, so I thought it would be good to check it out to see what all the hype was about. I can see why they’ve been going back year after year.
Things to Know:
- This is not an all-inclusive or an adults only property.
- The rooms are quite large and come with a washer/dryer in addition to a full kitchen.
- There is a restaurant on the property that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner is incredible and has some of the best churros in all of Cabo.
- There are two pools and one is an adults-only pool.
- This property is located in the heart of downtown Cabo right next to the Marina. It’s a great spot if you want to be close to several restaurants and bars. Everything is walkable.
Pros:
- Incredible service all around.
- The drinks by the pool were amazing.
- The rooms are very large and they have a lot of living space
- You can’t beat the location.
- The pools were really nice and have an incredible view of the ocean and all of the boats out on the water.
Cons:
- It’s expensive.
Where We Ate
Below is a list of all of the restaurants we dined at for dinner. We tried a couple different restaurants at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and a couple different restaurants downtown. If you’re looking for a great meal with a casual vibe, I’d recommend The Office. If you’re looking for something a little more elegant, I’d recommend Hacienda Cocina and Cantina. Both restaurants are right on the beach and have an amazing view.
- Península Restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica
- Pescados Restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica
- The Office on the Beach
- Hacienda Cocina and Cantina
