Happy Sunday y’all! How has everyone been doing? I feel like it has been a while since I posted a life update, so I figured I would share all the happenings of the Grivna household.
We have been busy! It’s been a good busy I suppose, but busy. We have had visitors at our house the last 5 weekends and are currently in the midst of preparations for weekend number 6. Eeek! It’s always fun, but it is a lot of work. Between cooking, cleaning, changing the linens, perfecting my decor, baking treats, etc., it gets to be a lot.
Alex and I were joking in the car that we feel like we own a Bed and Breakfast. Better yet, we feel like we have our own resort – all-inclusive style with a pool, all you can drink margaritas and endless chips and guacamole! Again, we are not complaining, but this summer has turned into a lot of entertaining, eating and drinking.
The hardest part for me has been all of the unhealthy choices we make on the weekend. We are so good during the week about eating the right foods and working out. I have actually been working out 5-6 times per week, and we eat salmon most nights of the week. But then the weekend comes and everything falls apart. We eat endless amounts of chips, go out to eat, and make cocktails all day long. I guess some would call it balance, but I would really like to clean-up my weekend lifestyle (that is….if we ever have a weekend to ourselves).
Other than entertaining people every weekend, we have been working on building another table. This is actually our first build for someone else! It has been a fun project, and I am excited for someone else to show off our woodworking in their home. We aren’t sure where we are going to go from here. We have a few other projects that we want to do around our own house, but we might sell a few pieces on the side if we have time.
In terms of work, Alex is still working with MD Anderson at the medical center downtown. He commutes downtown 3 days a week, and I usually tag-a-long one of those days. We love trying new restaurants downtown, so it has been fun to get out of The Woodlands and explore more of what Houston has to offer.
I am still working with UCSF as a consultant. I haven’t been traveling at all, but that is about to change as I have 3 weeks of travel out to California this summer. I actually really excited about it. It is time for me to get out of the house and earn some more Marriott points and frequent flyer miles! I miss it sometimes.
At the end of the summer, we are heading out to Victoria, BC. I am so excited for this trip, as I have never been to Canada before. It will definitely be a new experience for the both of us. Stay tuned for a full blog post on that!
Other than our trip to Canada, we have a couple of other trips planned for this summer, but I will tell you more about those later. Maybe I will keep it a surprise until we get there 🙂
Anyways, this is a brief overview of what life has been like for us lately. Currently, we are finishing preparations for my family to come in town this weekend, so I am baking up a storm! I am a little nervous as we will have 6 guests in our house for 2-3 nights. I have never had this many guests at once, so I am hoping everyone feels welcome, and I hope that we have enough room in our house. We actually had to go out and buy extra pillows and sheets because we didn’t have enough – oops!
Is anyone still reading this? Lol. I feel like I am rambling. If you have made it this far, I hope you enjoyed our little life update. I love having this blog so I can share stuff like this with everyone. Do you all like posts like this or do you want to see more of something else? I am always looking for new post ideas, so please leave a comment down below with what you want to see more of!
Happy Sunday, and I hope you have a great week!
