Is anyone else wondering how in the heck is it already April? I feel like the first few months of 2017 flew by!
I do love this time of year though. The weather is warmer, the sun is always shining, the days are longer and there is just more to do outside.
I typically set new goals each month, but this month I am going to work on slowing down. Want to know my main goal for April? Relax more. This may sound really silly, but we have been way too busy lately with house projects. We are constantly doing something to our house, and while it is fun, it can also be stressful and overwhelming. We love doing the projects, but I think it will be healthy to take a break from it for a while.
I do have other goals for the month of April, but it is pretty similar to past months. I will continue to make health and fitness a priority in my life. My goal is to keep working out 6/7 days of the week and eat healthy 80% of the time. We are allowing ourselves 2 nights out per week since we love to try new restaurants and it is fun for us!
I am really happy that I have made working out a regular occurrence in my life again, and I am already starting to see positive changes! Also, counting calories has been huge for me. I know a lot of people frown upon calorie counting, but it is one of the only “diets” that works for me. It is helpful to go back and review the entire week to see where I struggled. Weekends are hard, but I am slowly but surely making weekends healthier. Also, cutting down on alcohol intake has been huge. I don’t think I will ever be able to completely cut out wine, but reducing the intake has been a positive change in my life!
Anyways, life has been good lately despite being swamped with house projects. One of our biggest house projects, the pool, will be done by next weekend (I hope). I cannot wait for it to be done – I am going to jump right in the second it is filled! Honestly, I would be lying if I said this process was painless. It has been a lot of added stress in our lives, but that’s what you get with a construction project of this size. I won’t go into too many of the details, but I would definitely brace yourself if you are considering building a pool. The end result is nice, but the process to get there is not 🙂
Other than the pool, these are a few of the other house highlights from the past month:
- My office is officially completed – we installed new flooring and a new fan. Look out for a blog post on this in the next week or two!
- Our dining room is officially completed – we installed a new light fixture, got a rug, bought some chairs and finished our shiplap wall. We also built a centerpiece for the table. I will also be blogging about this in the next week or two!
- Alex is finishing up building our chaise lounges. These will go next to the pool outside.
- We have been constantly cleaning the house, so that has been quite the time-sucker for us as well. A lot of dirt and mud was tracked into our house with the pool construction, so we are always cleaning!
Needless to say, we are ready to relax by the pool. I think we earned it!
It was nice to get a little break from projects this past weekend with my mom in town. We actually drove up to Waco on Saturday to go The Silos/Magnolia Market. She had never been and wanted to check it out. It was super crowded, but we still had a great time!
While in Waco, we also went to Spice Village. If you are ever in Waco, you have to go! They have the cutest boutiques inside and you could spend hours in there.
Since the weather was amazing on Saturday, we went out for some drinks once we got back into town. We checked out a new restaurant at Hughes Landing – Broken Barrel – it was so cute and they had really yummy drinks. After that we went to the Local Pour for dinner and a few more drinks! We sat outside at both places and couldn’t get enough of the amazing weather.
On Sunday, we went to brunch at our favorite place – the Black Walnut and then we ran some errands! We found some cushions for our chaise lounge chairs and we also found an umbrella for the pool. I can’t wait to show y’all the end result!
I feel like I am just rambling on about nothing, but I just thought I would update you on what has been going on lately. I am mostly just excited for the pool to be done and swim all the time. I am such a pool rat, so I know I am going to enjoy having this pool. It won’t go to waste!
What have you all been up to lately? Did you do anything fun this past weekend?
Hope you have a great week!
P.S. I bought my 3rd Magnolia Wreath this weekend, and I am pretty excited about it – haha.
