A few weeks ago, we spent the weekend in Vegas for the first time. It was an incredible trip, so I figured it was about time I spilled the beans. I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed Vegas because I wouldn’t consider myself a “fun” person. It was really an amazing place with great food, fabulous cocktails and fascinating shows. You must put Vegas on your bucket list if you have never been!

Alex and I had never done a Vegas trip, so we figured it was about time since we aren’t getting any younger. Alex is actually working out in Las Vegas every other week, so it was easy to extend his business trip into the weekend.
Our first night out was Wednesday night since I flew out earlier in the week. After work, we went to the Venetian to walk around and grab dinner. I actually had a $25 slot credit to use, so we ended up trying our luck at the slots. We won $13, so we were able to pay for one cocktail!
We first grabbed a margarita at Chica before dinner. Honestly, we were not impressed with the margarita, so I would definitely pass on this place next time (maybe we have high standards because of living in Texas).
For dinner, we had reservations at Sushisamba! Alex and I love sushi, so we knew this would be a good choice. We ordered a few rolls and some amazing sashimi. It was all very good and we had great service!
After dinner, we walked around the Venetian a bit more. There is so much to see inside this resort and it looks like a little Italy! I felt like I was at Disney World or the Opryland in Nashville.
We wanted to check out one more bar before we called it a night, so we decided to grab a drink at The Dorsey. I really loved this place because it had a ‘Mad Men’ vibe going on. There were some leather couches and it was kind of dark, but I liked the mood.
I was really excited that my cocktail came with a real flower, so I made Alex take a picture with the fancy drink.
Unfortunately, we had to call it a night relatively early since we both had to work the next day. But it was still a successful first night in Vegas!
After work on Thursday, we checked into the Cosmopolitan. I booked the Cosmo because it is affiliated with Marriott, and we wanted to earn Marriott points. I also received a $150 credit for a 3-night stay, so I felt like it was a pretty good deal. Since I have Platinum status with Marriott, we got a free upgrade to a room with a view of the Bellagio fountains!
Before dinner, we went to check out The Chandelier bar. This bar is 3 levels, and it is located right in the center of all the restaurants. We were totally obsessed with this place and went all weekend!
We had dinner at Beauty and Essex which was also at the Cosmo. Overall, I was extremely impressed with this place. I still dream about the food we had there! It was so good. If you go, make sure to get the yellowtail – it is to die for!
After dinner, we went back to The Chandelier bar because we loved the vibe. My favorite cocktail was their specialty drink that made your mouth go numb. It was a very interesting sensation!
After having a few cocktails, we felt like we needed a midnight snack. Someone had told us about this “Secret Pizza” place, so we are on a mission to find out where it was. It didn’t take us long to figure out where it was, so I guess it wasn’t so secret after all. Anyways, we each got a slice of pizza and it was absolutely delicious! I added jalapeños to my cheese pizza and it was perfect. It was the best ending to our first night out in Vegas.
On Friday, we basically spent the entire day by the pool! It was beautiful outside and we really didn’t feel like doing a lot other than relaxing.
We started out the day by heading to the Aria to get breakfast at Pressed Juicery. I discovered this place while out in California, and I was hooked after one bite. It is similar to frozen yogurt, but it is dairy free.
The rest of the day was spent by the pool. The Cosmopolitan has 3 different pools, 1 of which is a day club. We went to the one that had the best views of the strip. It was really fun and the people watching was great.
One thing I will say is that drinks by the pool were extremely expensive. I would recommend going to the Walgreens across the street to grab something at a more normal price. I am not sure they allow outside drinks, but we were able to sneak in our champagne in our cups.
For dinner, we decided to do something more casual, so we went to Nacho Daddy across the street. Honestly, it was really good and it was some of the best nachos I have ever had! It was a huge portion, so I would recommend splitting if you aren’t super hungry.
After eating our weight in nachos, we decided to walk around the Bellagio to burn off a few calories. The Bellagio is such a neat place, and I think everyone needs to watch the fountain show at least once in their lifetime.
We walked around, took a few photos inside and then went back to the Cosmo for the rest of the night. We were kind of lame on Friday night and decided to take a drink back up to our room and watch the Bellagio Fountains from our balcony. It was actually a really nice night and it was cool to take in the views of the strip at night.
On Saturday morning, we grabbed some coffee and decided to head straight to the pool. Again, we really didn’t do anything during the day other than sit by the pool. We are such pool rats, but I don’t mind!
Our Saturday night was really the highlight of the day. We started out the night by heading to the Bellagio for a cocktail at Lago. We each ordered really interesting cocktails. Alex’s cocktail even came with a piece of salami!
After finishing our cocktails at Lago, we walked over to Le Cirque for our dinner reservation. Alex and I were really excited about this place because it is a Michelin-starred restaurant. We ended up doing the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings and it was one of the best experiences of my entire life. I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you are a big foodie like us.
Everything was absolutely perfect, and I still dream about the wine we had. I hope that we can go back again soon because it was such a good experience.
After dinner, we went to the O! Cirque du Soleil show. It was an amazing show and kept us entertained the entire time. Those performers are extremely talented, and I don’t know how they were doing some of the things we saw. I would love to see this show again.
Once the show ended, we decided to walk out to the front of the Bellagio to catch the fountain show. We had seen the show from our balcony, but we wanted to see it up close and personal. We were also able to snag a couple of cool pictures on the way to the front of the hotel.
After watching the fountains for a few minutes, we went back to the Cosmo. Apparently, we thought we needed more to drink, so we made our way to The Chandelier bar (again!). By the third night, the server recognized us, so that was a little pathetic….lol.
We rounded out the night with a few more cocktails and another piece of Secret Pizza. I don’t think we went to bed until 2 AM or so. Both of us still don’t know how we were able to stay up this late, but we did. Let’s just say we weren’t feeling 100% when we woke up the next morning.
On Sunday, we didn’t do anything because (A) we were hungover and (B) we had a flight to catch. We had talked about going to a buffet before leaving, but our stomachs were not feeling up for anything. It’s safe to say we had enough fun in Vegas!
Overall, we had a great time in Vegas and we would love to go back sometime! It is the perfect place for a quick, weekend getaway. I would absolutely do no more than 3 nights in Vegas. I think 2 nights is perfect for a Vegas weekend.
Anyways, let me know if you have any questions about our trip. I am always happy to share more details!
Have y’all ever been to Vegas? If so, what did you think? Did you end up going a little too crazy?
