Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good Mother’s Day weekend? We got a lot accomplished around the house, so I am feeling good about that.
Today is FINALLY the day that I am sharing our full dining room reveal – yay! This has been a long time coming – apologies it took me so long to get this post up.
First, I wanted to share the “before” photos of the dining room. These are actually the photos from the previous owners.
And here is the after…..it is QUITE different.
This room renovation didn’t cost us much money since we built the table and benches ourselves. We also did a DIY Shiplap Wall all on our own. I have blog posts about each of these projects, so check them out!
Our inspiration for this room was all of Joanna Gaines’ amazing designs from Fixer Upper. I love her “farmhouse” style, and I really wanted that to be the focus of this room. I think it mirrors one of her designs pretty well.
I am totally in love with the new light fixture we put in this room. I got it from Ballard Designs, and I put the link down below in the “Shop the Products” section.
It was hard to find a table runner for an 8 ft. table, but Williams Sonoma finally came through for me. I am obsessed with this runner – it was exactly what I was looking for to fit into the farmhouse-themed dining room. This product is linked at the bottom of the post.
I got these kitchen paddle things (what is the proper name of these?!) from Hobby Lobby. I knew we needed something for the wall, but I didn’t want to put up anything too big or overbearing. I just filled them in with some fake flowers from Hobby Lobby as well. (Sidenote: I probably went back-and-forth to Hobby Lobby 20 times to get this room just the way I wanted it – seriously, ask my husband!)
It took us FOREVER to find the chairs for the ends of the table. I looked and looked and looked. Finally, I decided to check out Ashley Furniture one day. Funny enough, I had never even been inside an Ashley Furniture and then….BOOM! I saw the perfect chairs at the right price. So, I called Alex right away and said we needed to order them ASAP – they were even doing a 20% off promotion that day, so it was clearly meant to be! I linked these chairs down below as well.
Let’s talk about the centerpiece. I actually have to give credit to Alex for finding this one. He found the plans for this on Shanty-2-Chic’s website – linked here. So, we made it ourselves, and it seriously only took 1-2 hours! So easy, so cheap, and so simple. Best of all, I think it looks pretty good! Once it was built, I went to the grocery store to get the Mexican soda bottles and filled them in with fake tulips from Hobby Lobby!
Anyways, that’s the dining room! This room has really been a labor of love, but it is by far my favorite room in the house. I am so obsessed with the farmhouse style, and I really feel that we nailed it with this room.
Now, we just have to figure out how to make the rest of the main floor “farmhouse.” We aren’t in a huge hurry to do more projects, but I am sure we will be doing something “DIY” again soon!
I hope you all enjoyed this post (and I hope I made Joanna Gaines proud – even though she will probably never read this….lol). I am really happy with the way it turned out, and I am excited to convert more rooms in our house to be farmhouse-style. Maybe we need our own show about converting a builder grade home into your own unique style? Just kidding 🙂
In all seriousness, let me know if you have any questions about what you see in this post. I am happy to answer any and all of your questions. Hope you all have a great week!
