Happy Sunday! I am excited to showcase another part of our house: the powder room! Now, there was nothing wrong with the powder room to begin with, but I wanted to brighten it up a bit and make it more of the farmhouse style. I am completely obsessed with that look and feel, so I thought I would try to bring that to our powder room.
Before I took the “before” photos, we had already made a few changes. Oops! We had already replaced the light fixture and the mirror. Also, we added a few decor pieces. So, in other words, this is not what the bathroom originally looked like.
Anyways, here are the “somewhat before” photos.
Like I said, there is nothing wrong with this bathroom, but I just didn’t love it. So, we decided to add some floating shelves and paint the cabinet white. I will link all of my sources at the end of this post. **Note: Most decor items were found at Home Goods, so you may not be able to find the same piece.
Here are the after photos.
Painting this cabinet white was the best decision. I was so nervous about painting cabinets, but I think it turned out pretty good!
I love the clean towel basket! I think I found that idea when browsing around on Pinterest. Also, Home Goods is a great place to find these fake flower arrangements.
Of course I had to put a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge in the frame – found it on Amazon!
Aren’t these floating shelves just gorgeous?!
The floating shelves were not that hard to create! Also, the staining process was very simple. Pro Tip for Staining: You don’t need much of it at all! A little bit goes a long way. Also, use old rags to wipe the stain off after brushing it on.
A monogram hand-towel is a must for any powder room – am I right?
Where can you find all of these great items?
- Mirror – Home Goods
- Galvanized Clean Towel Holder – Michaels
- Hand Towel – Mark and Graham
- Soap and Kleenex Box – Home Goods
- Light Fixture – Lowes
- Shelves – Handmade by us! Link to plans here.
- The stain color was weathered teak from Sherwin Williams.
- Paint used for Cabinets – Valspar “String of Pearls” (Eggshell Finish)
- Hardware – Home Goods (Cynthia Rowley)
- All Other Decor – Home Goods
As you can see, most items were from Home Goods, so I apologize if you cannot re-create this exact look! However, I wanted to show y’all that you don’t need to go the fanciest home decor stores to get the end result you want. Home Goods is a great place to find designer brands at a low price. If you have never been, you must check it out sometime!
I am so happy with the way our powder room turned out, and I am excited for our guests to have a beautiful place to freshen up!
What do y’all think of this powder room? Is it something that you could envision for your home? Let me know if you have any questions about anything we did! I would be happy to help.
