It’s safe to say I’ve been around the block a couple of times when it comes to travel. I took 40+ business trips in 2013 alone, so I have learned a few things when it comes to traveling. I have experienced flight delays, I’ve stayed in dirty hotels, I’ve met some weird people, and I’ve had a lot of fun.
One thing that remains the same are the essentials that I always travel with. I now know that there are certain items I always have to travel with. If I forget any of these items, I am totally thrown off! The 5 products listed below are my staple travel items, and they might be yours too.
- Portable Charger
- This thing is an absolute lifesaver! In today’s day and age, we are on our phones 24/7. Unfortunately, being on your phone this much will drain your battery before the end of the day. I always travel with a portable charger and USB cable. With these two items, you don’t have to worry about finding an outlet somewhere. This little device has saved me and prevented a lot of stress in my life. It is worth the investment!
- Shower Caps
- This may seem weird, but I have a huge stash of shower caps in my bathroom cabinet to use when traveling. I actually use them to cover my shoes instead of my hair. My tennis shoes (and probably most of my shoes) are pretty disgusting, so I make sure to cover them with a shower cap before putting them in my suitcase. Your shoes are dirtier than you think, so I would invest in a bulk pack of these!
- Emergen-C Packets
- Getting sick while traveling is never fun, so I always make sure to pack these Vitamin C packets with me. As soon as I get off the plane, I mix one of these packets in my water bottle. There are so many nasty germs in airports and on the plane, so I try to combat that with an extra dose of vitamins. I hardly ever get sick from traveling, so I think it works really well.
- Jacket or Sweater
- Even if it is the middle of the summer, I always bring a jacket or sweater. You never know when you might need it! In some cities, it can cool off a lot at night, so don’t be fooled. Also, the temperature on airplanes is never consistent, so I like to have something with me just in case the air is blasting. Air conditioning is another reason to always have a sweater with you. If you live in Houston, you know how cold it can be inside during the summer months!
- Ibuprofen
- I always have a small bottle of ibuprofen in my purse in case of emergency. Whether it is a really bad headache or a random aching joint, I want to make sure I am prepared! I typically try to fight off my headaches with an essential oil or a big glass of water, but sometimes you just need the drugs (especially when you are traveling). Also, I can’t tell you the number of times a co-worker or friend has needed an Advil or something. Even if you don’t need it yourself, someone else might.
Do y’all travel with any of these items? If not, do you think you’ll start bringing some of these things with you on your next trip? What are some of your travel must-haves?
