Living in Texas, we tend to make a lot of guacamole! We have access to really good avocados almost year round for a cheaper price (compared to northern states). Thus, I end up making guacamole almost on a weekly basis!
It is so tasty and you can use it for multiple purposes. You can do a chips and dip, a guacamole burger, put it on a salad, use it in any Mexican dish, etc.
I have received several compliments on my recipe*, so I decided I would post what I do to make my guacamole super tasty!
*Note: I never measure anything for this recipe and just kind of go with the flow, so these measurements are my averages/best guesses!
Catheryn's Famous Guacamole
Ingredients
- 3 medium/large avocados
- 1 cup red onion, diced
- 1 medium/large tomato, chopped
- 2 jalapeños, diced
- 2 limes
- Garlic salt to taste (about 1-2 tablespoons)
- Cilantro, chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Carefully cut the avocados in half and scoop out the insides into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Add your jalapeño, onion, tomato, garlic salt and cilantro. Mix thoroughly.
- Squeeze the juice of 2 limes into the bowl and mix thoroughly. Add additional garlic salt if needed.
- If you like it chunky, don't mash the avocados as much. If you like it creamy, be sure to mash the avocados completely.
