Happy Saturday y’all! We have another hot and sunny weekend ahead, so we will be planting ourselves by the pool for the next two days. I feel like everyone is starting to talk about fall, but we still have another 2 months of pool time here in Houston!
Today on the blog, I am sharing a variation of one of my favorite poolside drinks: the margarita. I typically make a regular margarita (recipe here), but sometimes I like to change it up a bit. This is a “fancier” margarita recipe that involves cucumber and jalapeños, so it can be a bit spicy! I love kicking things up a notch with my cocktails and adding fun ingredients. If you don’t like your cocktails spicy, you could always use less jalapeño or leave it out entirely.
El Jefe Margarita
Ingredients
- 3 oz tequila
- 1 oz triple sec
- 1 lime
- ⅓ of a jalapeño, chopped
- 4 slices cucumber, chopped
- Tajin seasoning
Instructions
- Place your chopped cucumber and jalapeño in a cocktail shaker. Add 1 oz. triple sec to the cocktail shaker. Muddle all of the ingredients with a muddler.
- Once everything is muddled together really well, add ice to the cocktail shaker.
- Add 2 shots (3 oz.) tequila to the cocktail shaker.
- Squeeze the juice of 1 lime into the cocktail shaker.
- Shake everything up for about 1 minute. You want to make sure to shake it really well!
- Coat the rim of your glass with Tajin seasoning. Add ice to the glass after coating the rim.
- Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into the glass.
- Garnish with extra cucumber and jalapeño slices as you see fit.
Give this recipe a try sometime this weekend and let me know what you think! I think it’s the perfect summertime treat.
