It’s almost summer and that means it’s almost grilling season! I know people like to grill a lot of different things, but it seems like one of the most popular is a burger. There’s SO many different directions you can go with a hamburger, and I love all of the different toppings. You can use a bun or make it a lettuce wrap. You can add cheese or it keep it dairy free. You can add all the condiments or you can keep it plain. There’s just so much variety!
We decided to whip up Blue Cheese Burgers the other night, and they were a huge hit. I’m not a huge fan of blue cheese myself, but I know it’s a very popular cheese. Maybe someday I’ll come around to it 🙂
The recipe we used for the burgers is listed below and you could always leave off any toppings you don’t like. The burger patties themselves are super flavorful and could work well with a wide variety of toppings. Cheers!
Blue Cheese Burgers
Ingredients
- 2 lbs 80% lean ground beef
- 1 egg white
- 1 egg
- 2 T worcestershire sauce
- 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
- 4 oz blue cheese crumbles
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- dijon mustard (for garnish)
- sliced white onion (for garnish)
- pickles (for garnish)
- 6 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly mix the ground beef, egg, egg whites, worcestershire sauce and Lipton Onion Soup Mix packet. It works best to use your hands.
- Form 6 burger patties of equal size.
- Grill the burgers to your desired temperature. It really depends on your grill, but I'd recommend about 5 minutes on each side.
- Let the burgers rest for a couple minutes before piecing together the hamburger.
- After the burger patties have rested, you can assemble your Blue Cheese Burger. Place on the burger patty on the bun and spread a good amount of dijon mustard on top. Top with a tomato slice, onion slices and pickles. Finally, top with a generous amount of blue cheese crumbles.
- Put the top of the bun on the burger and enjoy!
We made homemade fries with the burgers and used Half Baked Harvest’s “Oven Baked Tuscan Fries” recipe. I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
